In her work, Maarit Pöör combines artistic expression with functional design. Her deep connection to the Nordic countries began in 1992, when she was the first Estonian to begin her studies at Aalto University in Finland.
Maarit's art is recognized by its original color palette and clear geometric forms. She draws inspiration from both Nordic and Estonian architecture. This fusion of architecture and textile design has now found a tangible new form through her collaboration with the Finnish company, Annala.
"My goal was to combine a respect for historical architecture with modern textile design," Maarit explains. "It's as if we're weaving the soul of buildings into a new, soft story on fabric. The result is a collection that is simultaneously traditional and fresh, bringing a timeless and warm harmony to a space."
Maarit's work has earned significant recognition, with her pieces featured in numerous auctions and exhibitions, as well as esteemed private collections.

Exhibition Architectural Echoes 2024
The exhibition of the Estonian designer, Maarit Pöör, consists of an exclusive collection, which is a mixture of paintings and ceramics. Each work is inspired by Estonia's rich architectural heritage and one can see the impact of the city of Tallinn, where she has lived.
The collection began with porcelain vessels, on which playful forms painted with free hand venture, emphasizing the arbitrary world of shadows and forms experienced in the twilight of the town.
The paintings capture familiar forms from Estonian wooden architecture in a new and unexpected connection, creating an ensemble, each member of which represents a meaningful building, with its associated description. The range of colors in the paintings comes from the hardware store's industrial paint shelf, which connects the paintings to the real world.
Exhibition at Triigi Filharmoonia 2023
Maarit Pöör has created visuals for Triigi Philharmonia's 2023 posters that depict a celebration of life, beauty and creativity. The artist invites viewers to explore her world of color and form and to find their own meanings and connections in the paintings. The viewer would be offered joy, curiosity and positivity.
The music-inspired exhibition-sale brings the rich, colorful and summery Saaremaa to the viewer.
Charity auctions 2022-2023
During the period of 2022-2023, I participated in various charity auctions held in Estonia, donating several of my works to support Ukraine's resistance against aggression. These works garnered some of the highest amounts raised at these events.
